Excel Print Page Count Estimator
Enter rows, columns, paper, margins and scale to see how many sheets you are about to print.
Built for the moment a big spreadsheet is about to be printed and nobody knows how many sheets that is. Enter the rows and columns, the paper, margins and scale, and it counts the pages across and down. It also finds the scale that fits a target number of sheets. No file is uploaded.
How many sheets
6 sheets in total
2 across by 3 down
Each sheet holds 10 columns and 48 rows.
Printable area after margins: 6.87 by 10.19 inches.
Fit to a number of sheets
Pick how many sheets across you want and this finds the largest scale that fits.
At 51.5% it fits within 1 sheets across.
Excel has its own fit-to-pages feature, but its documentation does not say how Excel picks the scale. The figure here is found by counting, so it may differ from Excel's.
Figures not found in the documentation
The default margins, the pixel width of a default column, and the allowed scaling range could not be confirmed in Microsoft's documentation. All three are this page's own choices and each field says so. The 15-point row height and the 8.43-character column width are from the documentation.
Nothing you entered was sent anywhere. Everything was calculated on this screen.
This is an estimate
The real count changes with wrapped text, content in headers and footers, a defined print area, repeated title rows, merged cells, images and shapes, and manual page breaks. This page knows about none of those. Check Excel's print preview before you send it to the printer.
